Just walked out of a press conference…….Gary and Michael confirmed the NOPI Drag Racing by NHRA. The Sony Xplod series will no longer exsist and events taking place at NHRA tracks will be sanctioned and conform to NHRA rules and non NHRA tracks will fall under NOPI. All the NHRA events will count to the final points count of NOPI Drag by NHRA. Schedules will come soon and Formula D announced a Las Vegas event, what could this all mean for the future of that and a possible Formula D NHRA event plan together?

Here is the deal. Rumors have been flying all day at the convention about a merger. Rumor has it that they are currently in a meeting as we speak signing a deal for what is rumored to be a buyout of the drag racing series and perhaps the Drifting series? Details currently are very scattered but rumor has at a press conference will be held by NOPI tomorrow to fill in the gaps. What does this mean for import drag racing? Also, what does this mean for NOPI Drift because currently the NHRA is partnered with D1? D1 has already released a 2008 schedule that appears to be in accordance with some NHRA events/venues. We will stay on top of this story and fill you in on all the details!

Go check out our podcast on Itunes keyword: wrecked magazine for video or you can catch this one on our myspace at myspace.com/driftingmagazine in our videos. The event was wild and the track is very very unforgiving. Just Drift and Ziptied hosted a great event and we look forward to more action today (starts in like 3 hours) so keep posted for Sunday videos and updates! Who will survive the Zip Tied All Star Bash II weekend? Not many…
Forest Wang took home the gold today in the Top Drift Round 5 Finals. Just for driving like a gangster all day we figured Forest deserved some love on the blog.

I wanted to spill the beans on some issue one stuff right now. We did a full spread photo gallery for photos from “Back In the Day” and got some great photographers to collaborate on the project! The photo in our header is part of the photography project shot by Jason Siu at D1/JGTC at California Speedway in late 2004. The images shows Chris Forsberg in the old Drift Alliance/Falken Tire Nissan 350z. More treats in the gallery include some old school Rhys Millen, Sam Hubinette, and more! Participating photographers include Jay Canter, Jason Siu, Jacob Leveton, and Joey Redmond.
