NOPI and NHRA buyout/parternship?

Here is the deal. Rumors have been flying all day at the convention about a merger. Rumor has it that they are currently in a meeting as we speak signing a deal for what is rumored to be a buyout of the drag racing series and perhaps the Drifting series? Details currently are very scattered but rumor has at a press conference will be held by NOPI tomorrow to fill in the gaps. What does this mean for import drag racing? Also, what does this mean for NOPI Drift because currently the NHRA is partnered with D1? D1 has already released a 2008 schedule that appears to be in accordance with some NHRA events/venues. We will stay on top of this story and fill you in on all the details!
I can’t stand NHRA’s rules which is why I do not race in any NHRA event. If this happens I hope they don’t change NOPI’s class rule like NHRA’s unfavorable class rule.
