Update: Joon Maeng & Robbie Nishida - Peak Performance

Posted by admin on 26 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: Major Announcements

 Robbie Nishida

Robbie Nishida will be returning to the same Peak Performance S14 he drove in 2007 while Joon Maeng will drive the 2nd Peak Performance S14 for the 2008 season. Also both will be on Hankook tires. Joon’s personal S13.5 was refreshed over the winter, but will be reserved for backup and demo duty. His competition S14 is the same S14 driven by Ben Schwartz for 2 events with Sears graphics, and was driven by Joon at the D1 all star event. Hankook will back both drivers, which should be an interesting change. We’re excited what this new Peak Performance team has in store for 2008!

We spotted Joon Maeng and his S13 240sx in a Korean Newspaper dated 2.22.2008 showing his redone S13 with Hankook stickers! It looks like Maxxis gained two drivers in Tony and Ryan but in return lost Joon to Hankook. Joon Maeng won Spirit of Formula D award at the award ceremony to close out 2007.

KoreaTown Daily - 2.28.2008

We also found some pictures of the car and it’s looking good for 2008. We expect Joon to be a step up player in Formula D this year!

Ryan Tuerck and Tony Angelo to Burn up New Rubber in 2008

Posted by admin on 21 Feb 2008 | Tagged as: Major Announcements, Formula D, Drift Alliance

Tony Angelo

Mooresville, NC (Feb. 21, 2008) Ryan “Hampshaa” Tuerck and Tony “Hurricane” Angelo have just announced they will be making the switch to Maxxis Tire for the 2008 Formula Drift Championship. Although they will no longer be running under the banner of “Team Snakebite” both drivers independently have chosen to make the switch after seeing the stellar performance the Maxxis Z1-Drift tire has proven to be over the last year of competition.

Ryan Tureck

“The Maxxis Z1 Drift Tires is an amazing tire.” said Tuerck, “They last forever and hold up to the abuse of drifting with no chunking, no matter how hot you get them or what surface you are on.” Tuerck has also announced his new 2008 car will be a GM Racing backed Pontiac Solstice GXP built by his new team Gardella Racing. “I am excited to get into something new. I feel like I needed a new challenge and the Solstice GXP has brought that.” continued Tuerck. Ryan will be starting the year in a seeded position which is quite an accomplishment after the continuous mechanical failures that plagued him in 2007. “After getting some seat time, I feel the Solstice is going to be very reliable during competition, I know that the Gardella Racing crew will do everything they can to make this car competitive and reliable on the track.”

It’s D1GP’s first time ever on the east coast and it was a memorable one! The showstopper of this film is MA Motorsports Brian destroying the car now known as Zombie Car. Then the cameras get turned on Vaughn Gittin Jr. where they visit his parents house, MA Motorports with him and Vaughn’s personal home. This section of the movie is a riot.
