I started racing Porsche and BMW in 1999. Some victories in the Porsche Series, and winner of the BMW Cup 2002. In 2003 I entered the Autovisie DriftChallenge (the annual sideways-challenge) with a standard BMW E30 323i with a welded diff. and got 11th place. The year after I decided to do better and bought myself a BMW E36 M3 coupe. In the end I won the 2004-edition by drifting all the turns with one hand out of the sun-roof of the car!!

In 2005 I bought my BMW E36 Touring and converted the car for drifting. With that car I entered the NL and BE-drift-series and several other events in Europe. In August 2005 I decided to go to the D1-drivers-search on Silverstone-circuit there and see. In the end I was one of the 6 chosen drivers and I was very pleased to obtain my provisional license…….

Let me tell you we read a TON of Drifting content here at Wrecked Magazine and this story got linked to us and caught our eye. Granted it has a tad of bias towards Ueo due to the fact that it’s a AE86 website but don’t let that overshadow that great timeline and content that was produced to put this together. I have never seen a story so well put together and history documented with references of photos/pictures. Nice work guys and for all your AE86 fans go check this out for sure.

It looks like the guys finally got the finishing touches on the Drift Emporium Infiniti G35 including vinyl and it is looking great! Even Kenji Yaminaka has paid them a visit to give the motor an A+! So hopefully soon someone will confirm with us that Kenji is driving this in Formula D in 2009 because this NEEDS to happen already. We want to see this car sliding around the tracks like Long Beach and Road Atlanta soon. Someone sent this into the website today and we love it. Some quick clips from this great event in Las Vegas that took place over the weekend. The grassroots organization out of Las Vegas tosses a great bash in Las Vegas as Nellis Air Force base for all the locals and some Formula D players. Forest Wang and Patrick Mourdaunt are spotted ripping it up with some triple tandem action.

The GenesisForums found some great footage of the Hyundai drifting at a Korean Drift event! The coupe doesn’t do anything very impressive but some 1st/2nd gear action around the little lot before the track. Hopefully we can land more footage of this coupe in action but it already looks like the Koreans are figuring out how to set this car up for Drifting. Hopefully the American tuner market will be as quick to figure out the Genesis Coupe

“Steady” Fred Girard locked up a championship after a hard fought battle in Edmonton. Even though he missed the podium his points spread was just too far for anyone to catch up with him. So everyone at Wrecked Magazine wants to wish Fred Girard congratulations on taking home the championship in the Drift Mania series, we are ready for a great battle in 2008 with everyone.

The Edmonton Journal already put together a video from this weekend’s Drift Mania event and we have it at Wrecked for you. Right now, the main event is going on out in Edmonton but we have a video that was shot yesterday at Practice/Qualifying. This Edmonton track looks pretty intense and more technical than some of the other tracks on their circuit like Toronto. We bet everyone is having fun including our partner in crime the voice of Formula D Jarod DeAnda!

Sam Hubinette was given the chance to take a whirl in the Gumpert Apollo that we posted about before. It seems to be a trend as of late to have Formula D drivers with very expensive cars but we are enjoying the stories/coverage so keep them coming. Sam Hubinette was spotted at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona testing a Gumpert Apollo. For those of you who are die hard Top Gear BBC fans you should be familiar with this car. In Season 11 the Stig drove this thing to a record holding Top Gear track record of 1:17.3! We were told that this Apollo pictured above is only one of two in the country! Lucky Sam, check out the video below as he flogs on this sweet German supercar.
