Naoto Suenaga took his street prepped Nissan S13 240sx to victory in the pouring rain at Ebisu. Seems like we have a new trend in Drifting that involves the pouring rain and Drifting events….hopefully that streak doesn’t continue into the next few weeks. Congrats to Naoto Suenaga for taking home a victory over the weekend! Thanks to Antonio Alvendia reporting to us from Speedhunters!

Result: No one cares.
We have been blown up at the PM Lifestyle Office with calls about this huge alliance and big D1 Grand Prix season for 2009. It’s just more hype, smoke, and mirrors coming from this camp. They blamed Formula D for canceling it’s All-Star event which made about ZERO sense. Just because they can fool magazines like Stupid Street to do interviews with their new “sheriff in town” doesn’t mean anyone in the Drifting community buys they are back again for the third time. We have even heard Richard Goodwin’s name thrown into the frey of people running things on the back end. a A quick google search will show you he is an old founder of Hot Import Nights. This sums up how we feel about the situation. Our parents always told us to stick to what we are good at so we offer the same suggestion to D1.
Things D1GP is good at: Throwing events in Japan
Things D1GP isn’t good at: Throwing events in the United States of America
Just food for thought.

So Mike Garrett dropped us #5-2 on his list. We have a few disagreements with him on these but hey, it’s still all in fun! Pictured below is NOB’s old McDonalds HKS S15 (now the Rockstar Energy Drink S15 with Daijiro Yoshihara) in 5th place!

Daigo Satiro in his JZX 100 took home first place this weekend while battling the hometown hero Ken Nomura in his Nissan Skyline! It was a great battle but Satiro took home the win for this mid summer classic! Daigo Satiro has been looking strong at events this year like Fuji and Tokyo so it was only a matter of time until he took home a win. On another note Max Orido retired very early due to car trouble in the Lexus. A very underwhelming debut but we’ll see if he is back at Ebisu at the end of August.
1st- Daigo Saito (JZX100)
2nd- Ken Nomura (R34 Nissan Skyline)
3rd- Masato Kawabata- (Nissan Silvia)
4th- Youichi Imamura- (S15 Nissan Silvia)

Does the world look like it might make sense again? After hearing these rumors circling around the Internet for weeks upon weeks it seems like Orido will make his grand return to the D1 Grand Prix circuit in a similar fashion that NOB did earlier this season. Speedhunters announced that this is official that he will be present at Autopolis this weekend. His car will be the 2JZ-powered Weds/Bandoh IS which if I am not mistaken is the same car pictured above at Tokyo Auto Salon 2008. The car is done a similar livery to the GT300 IS that Orido drives in Super GT.

Something about the city of Las Vegas and the Toyota AE86 just seem to flow together. Toshiki Yoshioka took home the victory in his Yokohama Tires powered AE86! In fact, on July 16th, 2006 Yoshioka took home victory at the first professional Drifting event to take place in Vegas at the D1GP. Congrats to Yoshioka for the win at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Round 4 event!

Formula D has just announced that Orido will be attending Vegas. We reported him in Long Beach as his name was found on a driver’s list privately but nothing came of it. It looks as now they have officially announced his arrival in the City of Sin for next week. Orido will be piloting Project Mu / 3T Motorsport / Yokohama Aristo. We will keep you posted and hunt for some photos of this Aristo!
