Drift Appalachia and Chelsea DeNofa Bring Ballsiest Teams in Drifting to Touge Masters

Chelsea DeNofa and Drift Appalachia have both made a habit of pushing the boundaries of drifting, and their latest endeavor is no exception. Touge Masters brought some of drifting’s most daring teams to a mountain road in southeastern Kentucky to put it all on the line in a bid to be crowned the titular masters of the touge.

This first edition of the competition was something of a proof of concept for the formula, being the first-ever team touge competition in the US. Drifting on mountain passes is hard enough on your own; doing it smoothly and cohesively with other drivers is a whole ‘nother story. Regardless, a number of teams heard the siren’s call echoing through the valleys of Appalachia and showed up to show out with their homies on what proved to be an especially gnarly road.

Reese Marin, Hertrech Eugene Jr. and Derek King took on the challenge of judging the competition. After a day of practice that saw the mountain claim several cars, the remaining teams lined up for their judged qualifying runs. Rather than limiting them to one or two runs, it was a jam session-style hour of as many laps as each team wanted to send. The rain started early on the second day and only got worse as qualifying and, eventually, the Top Eight competition carried on.
