Driver Dead After Crash at NY Drift Event
Wrecked StaffShare
A driver died after making contact with a guardrail during an event June 27 at Adirondack International Speedway, sometimes referred to as Adirondack Motorsports Park, in Upstate New York. The event was organized by ADK Drift.
Organizer Josiah Abbadessa released a short statement announcing that the event was being cancelled early, but provided no additional details. Sources familiar with the incident have confirmed that an S-Chassis crashed into a guardrail on track. New York State Police arrived on the scene, and the driver was confirmed dead. Abbadessa hasn’t responded to a request for comment.
Area community members have raised concerns about ADK Drift’s event organizing practices. Public records indicate that they aren’t a registered LLC and sources familiar with their practices reported that they don’t carry event insurance. This was not the first time a crash has occurred at that spot on the track, but reportedly nothing was changed to make it safer.
This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
